Frogs and Toads
Frogs and toads are both amphibians. Both lay eggs in water, and their young hatch as tadpoles that swim with tails before growing legs.
Most frogs have smooth, wet skin and long back legs for jumping far. Many frogs spend their lives in or near ponds and streams.
Most toads have dry, bumpy skin and shorter back legs, so they walk or take short hops. Toads can live farther from water than most frogs. Both frogs and toads eat insects, which they catch with their long, sticky tongues.
